The world’s first computer mouse was invented at Stanford Research Institute (SRI) in the early1960s by Douglas Engelbart, while he was exploring the interactions between humans and computers. Bill English, then the chief engineer at SRI, built the first computer mouse prototype in 1964. The equipment was called “X-Y position indicator for displays” and was constructed with wood.
The instrument was given the name 'Mouse' because of the cable was sticking out of it, which Engelbart said looked like the tail of a rodent.

The world's first hard disk drive came from IBM in 1956. It was called the IBM Model 350 Disk File. The IBM 350 Disk File was developed under the code-name RAMAC by an IBM San Jose team led by Reynold Johnson. It was bigger than a refrigerator. It weighed more than a ton. And it looked like one of those massive cylindrical air conditioning units. This hulk of a storage unit could store a whopping 5MB of data.

The World Wide Web was created in 1989 by British scientist Tim Berners-Lee, who was employed at CERN. The first website in the history of the world didn't launch for another two years. In 1991, a NeXT system at CERN served as the host for the very first webpage.
